Mission Statement

The New York Forum AFRICA will provide three days of intensive discussions, collaborative taskforces and high-level plenary sessions to focus on the key economic and business issues confronting Africa today. Over 800 corporate leaders from Africa and the rest of the world will be joined by heads of state, policymakers and globally recognized experts with the goal of creating real plans for action on key topics. President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon is hosting the New York Forum Africa, in collaboration with Richard Attias & Associates and the Government of Gabon.

That core DNA provides the impetus for The New York Forum AFRICA. After decades of lagging growth, failed governance and widespread instability, Africa seems set on a path of sustainable economic growth. While the world's attention has been focused on economic struggles in Europe and the US, African economies are growing at more than 6% annually. But more needs to be achieved.

The New York Forum AFRICA provides a unique opportunity for business and political leaders, entrepreneurs and experts, to come together to work intensively on concrete proposals to spur more innovation, encourage an entrepreneurial culture, improve governance and strengthen the connections between the new African dynamism and the other growth regions of the world. Given Gabon's centrality in Africa, its booming economy, and its stable governance and strong infrastructure, it serves as ideal host for the New York Forum AFRICA.

The New York Forum was conceived out of a conviction that the business world is at a crucial crossroads. It is imperative to send a strong message of optimism about the future of the global economy, work to redefine corporate governance, create long-term value and reinvent business models by bringing together all stakeholders in the economy.

The findings of the NYF Africa will be presented to the G20 in Los Cabos, Mexico on June 20, 2012.
